Creating vs. Not Creating

self-doubt-guilt3Do you ever feel this way?

Over the past weekend, I got feeling like this. I had the whole day to do what I wanted and I chose TV instead of making stuff. Regardless, it was something I probably need to do, but in the end, It felt like wasted opportunity. It left me feeling uncreative and idealess.

Lesson learned. Next time this happens, I’m going to punch myself in the face.

Chiropractic Hulk

Not to say that Chiropractors throw you around like a rag doll but some days, I feel like I could use an adjustment from the hulk. Must make an appointment.

Sunday Funday!

I feel no guilt about how I spent my Sunday. It was the first beautiful day we’ve had in a while, but it’s also the first day in sometime that I’ve had time to myself that doesn’t involve stupid chores or shopping. Melinda Time will always upstage a sunny day.

Back to the grind tomorrow.

Vincent Van Gogh

I was never a huge fan of Van Gogh, but I’ve always very much appreciated it. Last night while stumbling through Tumblr, I found a post of his self-portraits. I thought I would do my own exploration and try a simplified version. However, my original intent was to have between 5 and 10 paint strokes but very rapidly grew beyond that.

I have never ever attempted a digital painting before last night. It was a lot of fun and I may just do it again sometime.

Since this attempt, my appreciation of Van Gogh’s style and technique has grown. I’m especially fond of his use of colour.

Snowday: A Comic

Snowday: Classes are cancelled.

This totally happened the other day.

I work for a University and all winter, we’ve been waiting for a snow day. Snow days are a very rare occurrence but unexpectedly, and to our delight, it happened on Wednesday.

We were only closed until noon but it was still pretty great.
